Scottish Gov. Update
PROTECTION OF VULNERABLE GROUPS SCHEME
UPDATE – SEPTEMBER 2008
The Scottish Government is in the process of implementing a new vetting and barring scheme (PVG scheme) introduced through the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. This email includes a link to the first in a series of regular progress updates for stakeholders on implementation activities.
The PVG scheme will:
· ensure that those who have regular contact with vulnerable groups through the workplace do not have a history of harmful behaviour,
· deliver a fair and consistent system that will be quick and easy for people to use and end the need for multiple, written disclosure applications.
