James is one of the teenagers on the London 2012 Paralympic team seemingly improving with every swim.  His best performance over the two Trials was in the MC 100m Butterfly at the British Gas Swimming Championships in London Aquatics Centre, improving on Ian Sharpe’s 12-year old British S12 record to scoop silver in 1:01.46.

Clegg’s time from the British Champs would have placed him fifth in the 2011 world rankings.  James has also shown promise in the S12 50m and 100m Freestyle, lowering his personal best in the former to 26.36 at the British International Disability Championships.  His British record in the latter stands at 57.16 – also set this season at the Scottish Gas National Age Group Championships.

James’ sister Libby will also be competing at the London 2012 Paralympic Games – she is a world T12 champion sprinter.

In the swimming world, James regards Ian Thorpe and Michael Phelps as two of his sporting heroes.
