Ian Mirfin MBE of scottishathletics extended an invitation to a number of Scotland’s wheelchair racers to compete at the East Fortune Race Track and seven of the nation’s emerging athletes enthusiastically signed up. Three athletes competed over 10Km and Disability Sport Fife members Graham McIntyre
Susanne McGrath and Callum Sloan entered for the 5Km event along with Murran McKay from Tayside.
The Fife squad was supported by DSF lead athletics coach Pamela Robson and the feedback was very positive. The track was excellent and hopefully the squad will be able to return there for further training and maybe additional races. The race was judged to be excellent experience for Team Fife members in the lead up to the national championships at Grangemouth in September. The course was technical with a hairpin bend and three full turns overthe 5Kms. There was lots of slowing and turning, but the Team Fife members loved every minute. For the record the results for the 5km race were as follows:
Graham McIntyre – 17.03
Susanne McGrath – 20.11
Callum Sloan – 23.48
Well done to all Fife team members and thank you to Pamela and the other support staff who made the journey to East Fortune in support of the athletes.
Richard Brickley MBE – President Disability Sport Fife
